As members of our research team are given significant levels of responsibility, all applicants for research assistant positions must meet the following requirements for acceptance:

  • GPA of 3.0 or higher

  • Volunteer for a minimum of two semesters

  • Work in the research lab 8 hours a week during regular lab hours (no weekends)

INTERESTED IN APPLYING?

You must complete the online application form linked below. You will need to know your current major GPA, cumulative GPA, and availability for the semester to complete this form. Once we have received your application, you will be contacted within two weeks to schedule a meeting with our Lab Manager.

We encourage interested students to explore being apart of our research team.  Being a member of a research lab gives you an opportunity to become an active member of a community of individuals who share your particular curiosities about the world. In some cases, your research can lead to a conference presentation or publication.

Those that are selected to be Research Assistants in the FMU Psychology Research Lab will do much more than simply  "volunteer". Team members contribute to all aspects of the research process including assisting with IRB application preparations, conducting experiments, interviewing, interview transcription, data coding and analysis, SPSS data entry, and developing research presentations and publications.

Federal regulations require that anyone directly involved in a research study undergo training to improve research subject safety. All personnel involved in research are required to go to complete the "Social & Behavioral Research Investigators Course" in the Collaborative IRB Training Initiative Program (CITI Program).

All students must complete this course and submit a copy of their final certificate to the Lab Manager prior to starting work in the FMU Psychology Research Lab.
