The FMU Psych Lab is housed in the Department of Psychology at Florida Memorial University. As the only Historically Black University in South Florida and the only HBCU in Florida located in a major city,

our lab is an optimum setting for conducting culturally relevant psychological research. We have attempted to explain psychological nuances by examining social and cultural phenomena.  In ongoing studies, we aim to tease apart the cultural and social factors that best account for psychological disturbances in African American adults.

Our research will bring attention to the ways psychological and sociocultural factors affect diverse communities. The ultimate goal of our research is to contribute to the reduction of health disparities
